Where Did Below Deck Down Under Season 2 Film & When

Where did Below Deck Down Under season 2 film and when? The show was set in Australia's Cairns region in Queensland and the Great Barrier Reef

Below Deck Down Under season 2 is set in a whole new Australian location than where returning co-stars Captain Jason Chambers, deckhand Culver Bradbury and Chief Stewardess Aesha Scott worked on season 1. Besides changing superyacht boats from Thalassa to Northern Sun, the BDDU season 2 crew worked and filmed off the coast of “the foothills of the most spectacular underwater scenery you’ll ever see,” according to Captain Jason. BDDU season 1 was located in the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef, of northeastern Australia. So, where did Below Deck Down Under season 2 film? And when did the BDDU season 2 crew film the six week charter?

Where Did Below Deck Down Under Season 2 Film: Cairns

The show filmed off the coast of Cairns, Australia, which is over 315 miles northwest of the Whitsunday Islands. Cairns, Queensland, is known for having some of the best parts of the Great Barrier Reef for undersea wildlife and vividly colorful habitats. The region of Cairns offers incredible, picturesque beaches, cafes, and local markets.

Motor yacht Northern Sun is the perfect boat for the charter season. A converted Japanese fishing trawler, has a massive dive locker, huge water toy room and two tenders. The crew and charter guests are prepared to do adventure yachting and exploration in the gorgeous tropical reefs off the coast of northern Australia. The reefs there offer sea turtles, brilliant colored fish, rays, sharks galore.

The home base for the crew’s home, Northern Sun, is Cairns Marlin Marina.

Marlin Marina is a state-of-the-art floating marina with first-class amenities because it’s a major hub for the superyachting world. It’s right in the heart of Cairns, near a five-star shopping mall and casino. Hopefully the BDDU season 2 cast didn’t get into too much trouble partying and gambling all the charter guests’ tip money on crew nights out.
