Below Deck Down Under season 2 second stewardess Laura Bileskalne is gunning for Chief Stewardess Aesha Scott’s top job aboard superyacht Northern Sun. The self-described “hustler” continues to diss Aesha’s service standards and even told her she was wrong about providing charter guests ice. The ambitious and highly independent brunette from the Baltics also gets involved in the love pentagon in Cairns, Australia. On the show, it looks like Laura is getting type-casted as an Eastern European-accented villain and foil for Aesha. But in real life there’s much more depth to this season’s second stew. Here’s everything fans need to know about BDDU‘s Laura from season 2.
Laura ran away from home at the age of 18 and her mother and grandma thought she would soon return home. Instead she thrived as she traveled the world and make her own living.

“I only had 200 Euros and address of where I needed to go. My grandma told my mom, ‘She’ll be back in two weeks, don’t worry.’ Young kid with no money, what can she do there,'” said Laura. The yachtie said she left Latvia because of the legacy of communism from when the Baltic state was part of the Soviet Union. She says the culture doesn’t allow for someone to be individualistic and grow as an entrepreneur, so she left for a bigger and brighter future.

By 2014 she settled in Barcelona, Spain, where she worked as a sales manager for NRG Events, freight forwarder for transportation company Intercargo Scandinavia, ads account manager for Teleperformance Spain, per Laura’s LinkedIn. She now works as the Events and Experience Manager for Atelier Tramontana and is co-owner of 1 Table Restaurant based in Barcelona. However her restaurant’s Instagram page stopped posting and likely went out of business in 2020 during the pandemic.

At this point in her life, Laura decided to pursue a career working on superyachts. On her second season in yachting, Laura worked two charter seasons on motor superyachts Lost Boys and Tommy Belle. On these charters she worked as a chief stew and yacht chef.
After leaving home, the Latvian beauty has traveled all over the world. Laura’s Instagram includes her in Brazil, where she was there for the World Cup in 2014, Australia, Oslo, Norway, Dubai, Thailand, Florence, Italy, Las Vegas, Switzerland, Miami, Washington DC, and more.

In 2015 Laura met her boyfriend Filip Nielsen. The two dated and were very close and did lots together up until near the end of 2018, when they appear to have broken up. They appeared to be doing a long-distant relationship, with Filip based in Denmark, Laura in Barcelona. At one point they didn’t see each other for five months while dating. On BDDU season 2, Laura talks about having boyfriends, but that she intends the next guy she dates to be her husband. We hope Luke got the memo.

A year after her breakup with long-term boyfriend Filip, Laura got hit with another tough break. The pandemic killed her restaurant business due to government shutdowns. She had to downsize her dream apartment in Barcelona for something more affordable and small. She also pivoted to working the yachting industry to pay the bills.

Laura celebrates her birthday on May 15, which makes her a Taurus. Her personality fits her zodiac sign well, as she’s tenacious, reliable and stubborn. While filming the show in April 2022, Laura was age 29. She’s now 31 years-old.

Besides being a talent in the kitchen, as well as dancing (like the can-can on the show), Laura also has strong taste in fashion and décor. This explains why she takes like three hours to get ready for a crew night out. She also prides herself in doing incredible decorations and table settings for yacht parties.
