The Ultimatum: Queer Love‘s star-crossed lovers Lexi Goldberg and Rae Cheung-Sutton shocked fans when the end of the reunion episode noted the two split up shortly thereafter. The gorgeous ex couple were planning a wedding and appeared to still be happily engaged. However, something went wrong, the marriage was called off. So when did Lexi and Rae break up and why? The Ultimatum: Queer Love: When Did Lexi & Rae Break Up?
Rae and Lexi had a relationship that spanned over four years (Instagram).
Although the official date when the The Ultimatum: Queer Love reunion filmed still remains a mystery, the episode was pre-recorded sometime in January 2023. Tiff Der and Mildred Bustillo revealed they broke up in September 2022, and the reunion filmed four months later.
The end of the reunion stated, “Shortly after filming the reunion, Lexi and Rae chose to end their relationship.” So, sometime in January or February is when Lexi and Rae broke up. Lexi’s new girlfriend and her started hanging out as far back as March 2023. Thus, there wasn’t much of a gap between Lexi ending things with Rae and dating professional photographer Kristin Zancanelli.
Lexi and Rae dated three years before going on The Ultimatum: Queer Love in the fall of 2021. Through those three years they spent a lot of time together traveling and living together. So what happened after the reunion that soured their relationship?
Lexi confirmed on TikTok she and her girlfriend “Zanc” started officially dating on April 18, 2023.

Why Rae & Lexi Split After The Ultimatum: Queer Love‘s Reunion Episode
Lexi and Rae back when they were a couple before going on The Ultimatum: Queer Love (Netflix).
Rea and Lexi agreed not to go into the details of their breakup according to Netflix. However, the Rae hinted at some reasons.
“We were good at the reunion, and then afterwards we were still rehashing things. [Lexi] started a new career and her lifestyle really changed and we were having trouble navigating that and things from the past,” Rae explained to Tudum. “It just kind of just got to a point where we couldn’t come to terms on certain differences.”
So it looks like Rae might not have approved of Lexi’s career shift from a professional consultant to an OnlyFans star with explicit content and influencer on Instagram and TikTok. Furthermore, Lexi couldn’t let go of Rae fooling around with Vanessa Papa during the trial marriage period on the show.
On top of that, a blind viewer of the show discovered Netflix edited out a reasoning for the breakup originally included in an earlier version of the pre-recorded reunion episode. The audio description of the note about their relationship included “Lexi suspected Rae was cheating” for the reason of the breakup. Netflix edited it out hours after releasing the reunion episode.
“There’s no bad blood, and I want nothing but the best for her. It’s sad and bittersweet that she’s like a distant cousin right now, but I hope there’s a way to become friends at some point,” Lexi told Tudum about the breakup with Rae.
Lexi spilled even more to People.
“There was some stuff that we were still working through that happened from filming, just trust that was broken and things we just really couldn’t [overcome]. We couldn’t get to a place where we were just moving forward completely,” Lexi said. “Candidly, trust is so important in a relationship, especially when you’re trying to commit to somebody in something so definitive as a marriage, as a marriage license, as like joining of funds and finances and love.”
But she also denied accusing Rae of any cheating outside of the show.
“So no infidelity in the long run. Nothing that happened post-engagement. It just really was stuff that we were hurting from our time on set.”
Rae is currently single and looking to move from Orange County to LA soon.
