Below Deck season 11 promises another Below Deck season full of boatmances. Even Chief Steward Fraser Olender got some reciprocated action with a charter guest after striking out the last two seasons and only getting led on by Lead Deckhand Jake Foulger on Below Deck season 9. However, the messiest boatmance on Below Deck season 11 appears to be the romantic relationship between Lead Deckhand Ben Willoughby and subordinate Canadian deckhand Marie “Sunny” Marquis. Knowing Ben’s past relationship history and ex girlfriends, it should come as no surprise they had issues. So, are Ben and Sunny still together after the show?
Although stewardess Barbara “Barbie” Pascual and deckhand Kyle Stillie had their issues when he wouldn’t keep his pants on during crew nights out, Ben and Sunny’s issues were far worse. Ben, being Ben, still tried to play the field after he and Sunny started hooking up on superyacht St. David. The Below Deck season 11 trailer, Sunny says to Ben, “I feel disrespected in many ways.”
“I don’t rely on no man,” Sunny says as she uses a tool to fix something in another preview.
“Ben the stew slayer is back,” Ben says in one of his interviews with production.
French-Canadian Quebecer Sunny puts him in his place when he tries to be a player for a second season.
“If you go and touch another girl’s [bleep] that is just not okay, Ben,” Sunny tells him.
“My situation, oh, it’s [bleeped, laughs],” Ben says. It appears Ben starts trying to date another girl on the boat.
“That’s not okay. You can’t [bleeping bleep] two girls in the same boat.”
Are Ben And Sunny Still Together After Below Deck Season 11?
Despite high drama while filming Below Deck season 11 in Grenada in early 2023, Ben and Sunny appear to reconcile their differences. Both Ben and Sunny posted photos by themselves on Instagram where the enjoyed the sun on a beach in Queensland, Australia, on Christmas Eve in 2023. Both Sunny and Ben were wearing the same Santa hat, too. Coincidence, we think not.
Diehard Below Deck fans will recall Ben and his ex girlfriend Camille Lamb on Below Deck season 10. The former co-stars dated after the show. Both posted photos alone on the same days of their romantic trip to the Dominican Republic on Instagram before season 10 premiered. However, this time around, Ben likely has added responsibility on the show. It’s pretty clear he replaces Bosun Jared Wooden as the leader of the deck crew. Jared almost certainly gets fired on Below Deck season 11. So, perhaps Ben matures and ends up respecting his relationship with Sunny by the end of the charter season.
Sunny’s Instagram includes several pictures of her in January 2024 enjoying a trip Down Under. Also, only five days before the Below Deck season 11 premiere she tagged Ben in a post of several photos, including one of Ben. Adding even more evidence the two were together throughout January, Sunny and Ben both posted a photograph taken with film of themselves in Australia recently.
However, as Below Deck season 11 airs on Bravo, and Sunny, now back in Canada and sees parts of the charter season they weren’t previously privy to, things could change in their relationship (if they’re even still dating). Furthermore, Sunny lives in North America. Meanwhile, Ben lives on the other side of the world. A 17-hour flight separates the two. That’s a pretty major long-distance relationship. Also, Ben and Sunny both work in the yachting industry. That means they’re often out at sea for months at a time with temptations of other people to date.
So, unless the two ended up finding work on the same boat for future work, it’s very unlikely their boatmance lasted, just like all the other Below Deck boatmance ended before this one. Kyle and Barbie’s relationship also likely ended up in a breakup.
