Captain Lee Returning On Below Deck Season 12 Is Fake News

Why Captain Lee Returning On Below Deck Season 12 Is Fake News

Reports claiming Captain Lee Rosbach may be coming back to the helm of Bravo’s flagship yachting show Below Deck got many fans excited. However, the rumors are almost certainly not true. Captain Lee finished the remained part of Below Deck season 10 after he had to leave for most of the charter season due to health issues. Unfortunately Below Deck production and Bravo decided to not hire Captain Lee back for another season after that. And here’s why Captain Lee returning on Below Deck season 12 is completely untrue at this point in time.

Cinemaholic reported — without any references to sources — that Below Deck season 12 was greenlit by Bravo and that Captain Lee Rosbach will continue to lead the team. However, Captain Kerry Titheradge replaced Captain Lee on Below Deck season 11. Dextero then also reported the same nonsense news, citing the Cinemaholic story that didn’t provide any evidence.

The report also claims casting is currently underway, which Bravo hasn’t said anything about. Furthermore, Below Deck usually gets filmed earlier in the year, and the whole time Captain Lee has been living at his home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, shooting a weekly podcast called Salty with Captain Lee. Not only that, but Captain Lee has also been actively busy on Twitter/X, something he wouldn’t have time for if he was filming Below Deck season 12.

Why Captain Lee Returning On Below Deck Season 12 Is Fake News

Although Captain Lee still works out two hours every morning is in great shape mentally and physically, he’s getting quite old. Captain Lee is 74 years old, which means he’s no spring chicken. On the other hand, Captain Kerry is only 47.

Captain Lee still keeps extremely busy, regardless of being put into forced retirement of being the on-screen captain of superyacht St. David. Besides his weekly podcast, he also co-hosted Bravo commentary show Couch Talk With Captain Lee and Kate, alongside his good friend and former Chief Stewardess Kate Chastain. Not only that, he’s now the host of a true crime series about murders at sea, Deadly Waters, coming out on Oxygen later this year.

Despite Below Deck season 11 ratings consistently coming in below 1 million viewers in the first five episodes, per Nielsen, the show is still getting close a million viewers with every new episode airing. Furthermore, the show is still very popular on streaming services and Bravo has added four spinoff shows, three of which were all renewed (Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5, Below Deck Down Under season 3, and Below Deck Med season 9).

That said, it doesn’t appear Captain Kerry filmed Below Deck season 12 yet. The anemic ratings of both Below Deck season 11 (so far) and his inaugural season on now-canceled Below Deck Adventure, he might get the axe. However, Captain Lee returning on Below Deck season 12 seems incredibly doubtful because of his age and the need for a permanent replacement for following seasons. If anything, Captain Lee may return as a charter guest alongside Kate Chastain in a future season.
