Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 deckhand Chase Lemacks got off to a rough start in Sardinia, Italy. His over-eagerness at the job and making mistakes due to lack of instruction annoyed his boss First Officer Gary King. On top of that, he grossed out the interior ladies — especially stewardess Lucy Edmunds — for his immature drunken antics. However, as the season progressed, Chase learned how to pace himself on crew nights out and pitched in heling the interior team to get back in their good graces. By the end of the season he’d become good friends with most of the crew and gained Gary’s respect for his hard work, even if he’d lost respect for his boss. So, what happened to Chase after BDSY season 4?
Chase’s Instagram shows a large gap in posting after finishing the charter season in Sardinia, Italy, in late July 2022. In November he posted some pictures of his California road trip with former co-stars Chef Ileisha Dell, Alex Propson, and Mads Herrera. They rented a campervan and traveled to Joshua Tree National Park, LA, and San Francisco. Last year he also worked on renovating properties for Airbnb rentals. Chase has an entrepreneurial spirit and has a goal of retiring by the age of 30. In 2023, Chase visited Ileisha in Australia where he stayed at her apartment in Syndey and they worked on a charter yacht together. Fans suspected Chase was dating Mads after the show because they’ve been spending lots of time together. But it looks like there’s a better chance Chase and Ileisha dated after the show.

Since Chase returned from his trip to Australia, he’s been busy training how to sail, buying an old sailboat, and renovating his boat to sail in the Caribbean later this year. He also launched his YouTube channel Chasing Garce, which is documenting his sailing journey from refurbishing the boat, to learning how to sail. He has a goal to sail across the Pacific Ocean eventually, following in the footsteps of Chief Engineer Colin MacRae, who bought a catamaran years ago and documents his sailing adventures on his channel Parlay Revival. Alex has been helping him fix up the boat, while Chase is helping Alex shop for houseboats.
In early June, Chase flew out to NYC along with Alex, Mads and Chief Stewardess Daisy Kelliher to be on Bravo kingpin Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live. While on the show he didn’t have much positive to say about Gary.
Since launching his sailor influencer online persona Chase gained over 100,000 followers on Instagram. It looks like he’s well on his way to building himself a successful career as a professional sailor. In the meantime he’s headed to Europe again to work another short charter season to help pay the bills. Unfortunately photos of the Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 cast don’t show Chase in them. Unless he gets the call up to replace a fired deckhand, he won’t be back on the show. We’ll likely find out more about what happened to Chase after the show when the two-part BDSY season 4 reunion airs.
