First Officer Gary King didn’t exactly have the best time on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4. The womanizing South African yachtie met his match in stewardess Mads Herrera. She casually hooked up with Gary all season on Parsifal III, without any interest in taking the idea of dating him seriously. Gary, ever the narcissist, couldn’t handle a woman playing him the way he’s done with the female crews in BDSY seasons 2 and 3. After Mads made out with deckhand Alex Propson on the final crew night out, Gary had a full-blown meltdown, screaming and pushing Mads out of his cabin. So, what happened to Gary after season 4?
As far as Gary’s Instagram shows, Gary hasn’t gotten control of little Gary leading him into drunken debauchery. Gary continues to follow a bevy of beautiful women everywhere he travels. He mostly follows attractive women on his IG. Throughout his first three seasons of BDSY, the now 35 year-old tried to sleep or at least kiss virtually every female co-worker. Last season, while in a boatmance with Mads, he still tried to steal Chief Stewardess Daisy Kelliher away from his good mate, Chief Engineer Colin MacRae. Since his two love triangle troubles, it appears Gary continues to skirt chase.
What Happened To Gary King After Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4
Since filming BDSY season 4, he continued to work charters on Parsifal III, alongside his good friend and boss Captain Glenn Shephard and the sailing superyacht’s non-reality TV regular crew. At the end of the BDSY charter season in the middle of the 2022 summer, Gary and Glenn played a round of golf together. In the fall Gary attended BravoCon 2022 in NYC. According to Glenn, Gary was the drunkest at the Bravo bash. While there, Gary developed a crush for Southern Charm star Taylor Ann Green and slid into her DMs. He also said they now chat from time to time.
After BravoCon 2022, Gary returned home to South Africa to visit his mom, family and friends. He also hung out with fellow South African and Below Deck Med star Mzi Dempers in Cape Town. While home he also fished for a shell fish called alikreukel in Knysna lagoon by free diving. He also hunted for bloodworms to use as bait. Gary then finished off the year celebrating Christmas with his mom Sylvi Tiilikainen.
In the New Year, Gary visited his brother and his young family in Chirstchurch, New Zealand, where they live. He had a great time being a goofy uncle with his two nieces. Gary and his brother Ryan King hiked the tallest mountain in New Zealand, Mount Cook.
In April, Gary was flown out to LA along with Captain Glenn for a luncheon with TV execs and other reality TV stars. Later that month he was flown to Manhattan, again with Captain Glenn, to do an appearance on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live. He then flew to Copenhagen, Denmark to travel with his best friend, Jonty Pieters.
Gary Returns For Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5
By late May, Gary returned home to Palma De Mallorca, Spain, where he took refresher yachtie training in preparation for another season of BDSY. Despite some fans calling for Gary to be fired, the ratings-gold sailor is back. Gary also virtually attended the much-anticipated, pre-recorded two-part BDSY season 4 reunion in the middle of June.
Although things didn’t end well between Gary and Daisy, the two reunited in Ibiza, Spain, to help lead another superyacht charter crew. Visibly absent is his former good mate Colin. Gary’s friendship with Colin is still in question.
While on BDSY season 5, Gary once again celebrated his birthday during filming of the show.
Perhaps Gary’s maturing and will try to settle down with Daisy in BDSY season 5. At the very least fans hope he doesn’t again play Daisy, who fans think is in love with him, and doesn’t pursue the BDSY season 5’s new interior stews.
