Fan-favorite Mzi “Zee” Dempers is back for another charter season on Below Deck Mediterranean season 7. Viewers of the show loved Zee on Below Deck Med season 6, and are excited to see his progress in his development as a deckhand since being on superyacht Lady Michelle.
Here’s everything fans need to know about Zee from Below Deck Med.
Deckhand Zee’s Nationality, Home Town, Family & Friends
The easy-going and good-humored deckhand grew up in a big family he was adopted into at the age of three. Deckhand Zee has two brothers also in the yachting industry who are a Captain and Chief Officer. His eldest brother has been in the industry for over 20 years. He’s the youngest of five siblings and joked that he was the “black sheep” of the family because he was adopted into a white family.

Zee grew up in Cape Town, South Africa, one of the capital cities of the African nation. Zee’s Instagram mostly shows him spending time with family and friends, however, he doesn’t post that often. Zee loves to golf, party and surf with friends. Last year, his friends from back home took a trip to nature reserve where they saw rhinos, elephants, lions, giraffes and other African wildlife. They lived it up in style, taking a private jet on their trip.

His good childhood friend Storm Smith joined Zee on superyacht HOME for Below Deck Mediterranean season 7. After filming the show, the duo traveled in Paris, France, together.

Zee’s Relationship Status, Age, Time On Show & More
On Below Deck Med season 6, Zee had a crush on Second Stew Courtney Veale. Although the two were very flirty on crew nights out, and even kissed a couple of times, they never were more than friends. According to Courtney, the two never hooked up, either. Some fans were unimpressed with Courtney leading Zee on.

Courtney lack of interest in him romantically might’ve been best for Zee. He was a new deckhand. He worked hard as a deckhand. A boatmance could’ve derailed that. According to Zee’s Facebook, he’s currently single.
Although he truck out on Below Deck Med season 6, he had luck with another hottie yachtie. Zee revealed that he and Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 1 stew Georgia Grobler dated. Although Zee described it more as “hooking up” for a spell with the fellow South African.
Zee looked up to his boss, Bosun Malia White while on season 6 in Croatia. He took constructive criticism well and learned quickly under her instruction. His growth and development paid off because Captain Sandy invited him to be back for another charter season.
On Below Deck Med season 7, the deck team got off to a rocky start. Zee and Storm were late arriving on the first charter because they were stuck in quarantine in Malta. On top of that, Bosun Raygan Tyler‘s leadership has been shaky, not impressing other season 7 deckhand Jason Gaskell. Things aren’t going as well as it did for Zee while on Malia’s deck team, including deckhands David Pascoe and Lloyd Spencer.
After season 7, it appears Zee may be working on a motor superyacht based in Florida, Fort Lauderdale. Zee posted an Instagram live of him in front of a superyacht located in the American superyacht hot spot city.

For fans wondering Zee’s age, he’s most likely 27 years-old. On September 24, 2015, he posted a picture on Instagram joking, thanking himself for 21 years, suggesting it may have been his birthday. Zee now celebrates his birthday all month long.
