On the Below Deck Down Under season 2 trailer the latest season in the Below Deck franchise touts a love pentagon taking place on superyacht Northern Sun. In the preview, Chief Stewardess Aesha Scott says, “So Harry likes Margot, who likes Luke, and Laura likes Adam, but also wants Luke. It’s a love… pentagon.” Did you get that right? It’s all a little confusing for viewers when they’re all unfamiliar, new faces. So, here’s a rundown of the short-lived Below Deck Down Under love pentagon in season 2.
First off, very inappropriate and overly forward Bosun Luke Jones, around age 30 on the show, is going after both second stewardess Laura Bileskalne and third stewardess Margot Sisson. Meanwhile, young Australian scuba instructor and deckhand Harry van Vliet, only age 23 on the show, is smitten with Margot, age 27 on the show. At the same time Laura, age 29 on the show, entertains a boatmance with Luke, she’s also expressing interest in deckhand Adam Kodra — who’s in his mid twenties, too.

The love pentagon in Cairns, Australia, doesn’t last past episode 7. Reddit sleuths are pretty sure Luke gets sent packing at that point due to eagle-eyed viewers spotting the person getting sent home having the same tattoo as the Australian bosun. Furthermore, leaked descriptions of all the future BDDU season 2 episodes make it pretty clear the leader of the deck team gets sent home for mysterious reason.

Episode eight (titled Great Sexpectations) description reads, “The deck team gets a surprising new leader, which causes resentment to grow within the department.”
So, did Harry humiliate the older bad boy Luke, proving nice guys don’t always finish last? Or did was Margot into Luke right up until the moment he got fired? We’ll have to wait to find that out. We know Luke plays hot and cold with Margot, though, suddenly making out with Laura in the limited time he’s on the show.
Meanwhile, previews show Adam and Laura hooking up on the boat at some point. Although their boatmance must’ve sunk fast, too. They both get fired by Captain Jason Chambers as well if leaked episode descriptions are any indicator!

Episode 9 (Angel Nude Cake) has a description saying a replacement stew arrives. “The deck team tries to recover after a mishap with the Captain. A new stew joins the crew and instantly makes waves.”

A later episode description mentions the captain firing a deckhand, too. Adam’s lack of any posts on Instagram about the show are another bad sign. Things likely didn’t end well for the Brooklyn native aboard Northern Sun.
Fans will have to wait for later episodes to see exactly how the love pentagon unravels. But it shouldn’t surprise anyone that two colliding love triangles blew up fairly quickly. We’ll have to wait to see what kind of fireworks the love explosion made.
