Yoly Rojas and Mal Wright surprisingly got engaged in the season finale of The Ultimatum: Queer Love. Yoly had a torrid romance with her trial marriage partner Xander Boger for three weeks before she was reunited with her ex Mal. Meanwhile, Mal had a strong platonic connection with her trial partner, Lexi Goldberg. Upon reuniting, Mal felt they had grown more mature and were ready to jump into committed, married partnership with Yoly and have kids. However, Yoly still had Xander on her mind. The two texted each other while back with their exes. In the end, Yoly reluctantly said yes to Mal’s proposal, but still kissed Xander — according to an interview with Today — hours later when they asked her to start a relationship together. So what happened to Yoly and Mal after The Ultimatum: Queer Love?
During the reunion, the two made it clear they were “happily broken up” shortly after the show wrapped up filming. On the reunion, filmed in early 2023, Yoly said, “My fear was as soon as the cameras stopped filming, Mal was going to go back to our ways that I know of. So that happened. We spent some time apart. And in that time apart, she was like ‘this is not going to work out.'”
Mal called out Yoly’s “dishonest” and “hella disrespectful” behavior on the show where she led them on that she only wanted to be with Mal. After reflection, Yoly felt “like a dangerous stranger” to Mal.
One things for sure, Yoly’s taking a ton of heat from fans for doing Mal dirty and also breaking up another couple.
What Happened To Yoly And Mal After The Ultimatum Queer Love & Breakup
Yoly, age 35, continues to work as a fashion stylist and spoil her bulldog Margaux. Although she game Mal the ultimatum because she wanted to be married and have kids, she’s currently taking some time alone to personally grow and remains single.
“I don’t know,” Yoly told Today about dating Xander again. “I don’t think I see it but then a lot of times I really do see it.” Yoly added if they didn’t live so far from each other, with her living in Chicago and Xander based in Hawaii, thing might’ve been different. The two met up at Coachella back in 2022, but the spark between them had fizzled out. Yoly was also fresh from her breakup and wasn’t interested in kickstarting another relationship. “But I think we’re maybe gonna see each other sometime soon,” Yoly said in her interview about seeing Xander again.
Maybe Yoly will get to take that aborted planned trip to Hawaii she was making with Xander behind Vanessa Papa‘s back.
“I’ve been in relationships since I was 17, one after another,” she said to Netflix’s Tudum. “I haven’t spent that much time alone. I’ve always had a partner and I’m either spending the night at their house or she’s over at mine. But post show, I’ve been single as [bleep] — like actively single.”
Yoly’s Instagram also shows her enjoying the limelight. She hosted a watch party again at a local bar on Wednesday, June 8, to celebrate the last two episodes of The Ultimatum: Queer Love. She’s also solo traveling, cooking and working out regularly.
Mal’s job looks to be as a content creator and influencer with their newfound fame. They offer bookings and also do paid promotions. They also walk, journal and meditate every morning.
“We’re all humans and we’re all doing the very best that we can. The best that we know how and I think sometimes we operate out of survival, right?” Mal told Today. “So I have no ill feelings towards Yoly.”
Mal, who’s ethnicitiy is Cuban and Jamaican, is also single for now.
