Amber Asay already proved herself a survivor recovering from both a gunshot wound to the head and heroin addiction before joining Outlast‘s cast in the remote Neka River of Alaska’s rainforest. Despite Amber’s previous trials and tribulations in life, she proved she could adapt to the harsh climates of Alaska and thrive. Although Amber and Jill are facing fan backlash as the portrayed villains of Netflix’s Outlast, there’s a lot more that viewers didn’t get to see due to the show’s edits. So instead of judging a cast member by a scripted reality TV show, fans should get to know Outlast‘s Amber better.
Outlast‘s Amber’s Job, Instagram, Head Gunshot Attack, Former Heroin Addiction & More
Amber became a certified yoga instructor after recovering from her afflictions with addiction. She also does amazing aerial acrobatitcs, too. She’s made a bunch of friends and found her “tribe” after a long journey. Amber’s other job is as a project coordinator at LGE DesignBuild, per LinkedIn.
Amber’s Instagram shows she loves to mountain climb all over the United States and is a mom to her pet dog.
“I’m a recovered heroin addict, I’m a felon, I’m a survivor. Through that, I’ve seen some really dark sides of humanity,” Amber said on Outlast. “I was shot in the face by the man I loved with a 22-caliber gun. Luckily he was about 15 feet away, so it went straight though. I wish I could say that’s the worst thing that’s happened to me, but it’s not.”
According to Amber, she was shot in 2009 and had a mysterious summary felony conviction three years later. She conquered her addiction the following year. Amber, now age 35, was 34 years-old while on Outlast, and celebrates her birthday on August 25th, making her a Leo. She also celebrated buying her own home in Phoenix, Arizona, in 2019.
Amber is also part of an adventure club, which inspired her to form her own group called ABOMB’S ADVENTURES, where she takes out groups to do yoga in nature, hiking and mountain climbing.
Amber responded to her bad show edit and talked about the more positive aspects of the show.
Meanwhile, Outlast co-star Javier Colón insists Amber and Jill were even worse than what was shown by producers.
Amber shared on social media an Outlast producer claiming Javier actually wasn’t all that nice himself and defended Jill and Amber. Hopefully Netflix will release an Outlast reunion episode for fans to get closer to the truth of what happened on the show.
