Before her career as a relationship expert, Aleeza worked as VP and workplace manager for her and her husband’s company, Metropolitan Drapery & Blinds Etc., while they were living in their hometown of Philadelphia. She still worked at that job — while working her matchmaker job (Shidduch) — up until the Covid-19 pandemic, when she and her husband, Gershon Ben Shalom, decided to move to Israel with their five kids and dog. They moved to Pardes Hanna-Karkur, a small town in the Haifa District.
Aleeza’s matchmaking work has helped over 200 Jewish couples get married under the chuppah. She also has an eponymous business website, where she offers Jewish singles life coaching, matchmaking services, dating advice, online courses, events, podcasts and books. Aleeza’s books Get Real Get Married and Virtual Dating guides singles in the dating world to find their soulmate. Aleeza’s personal matchmaking services fee ranges from $3,000 up to $50,000 for clients. However, she also offers Soulmate Clarity session for $997 USD to help clients figure out what went wrong in a previous relationship or current one.
“My husband is my perfect type,” Aleeza explained on Jewish Matchmaking. Aleeza and Gershon celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary recently. After meeting at a Jewish singles retreat, the two ended up reconnecting after Shabbos on a walk. After a few dates, they got engaged, Four months later they married. Aleeza explained that she and her husband both grew up in fairly secular households, but are both baal teshuva, a Hebrew word which means to return to Orthodox Judaism. The means Aleeza covers her head, shoulders, knees and toes. Her family celebrate all the High Holidays, Shabbat every Saturday, keep kosher, and often go to synagogue.
