Below Deck Down Under season 2‘s first group of charter guests started off their trip with a bit of in-fighting. Primary Charter Guest, entrepreneur and reality TV star Carmen Felder and Kristyl Nelson and Brandon McLaughlin started a brouhaha aboard superyacht Northern Sun. The editing made it seem like it all started because Carmen told Kristyl she had some food on the side of her face. It turns out there’s more to the story, however, as Kristyl and her best friend, TV talent and concierge business owner Asheigh Demi spoke exclusively to Show Star News about their charter trip.
The ladies also shared photos of their costume outfits for the Moulin Rouge-themed party on the second night yachting in Cairns, Australia.

Below Deck Down Under Season 2 Charter Guests Kristyl & Ashleigh Talk Boat Fight & Night Swim Mishap

Unruly and wasted charter guests Kristyl and Brandon night swimming in Australian waters with sharks and deadly jellyfish (Bravo).
“Krissy [Kristyl] is a super sweetheart. She is not a mean girl in real life. Between the booze and the editing, it made her behavior look untruthful. It portrayed her as a person that she’s totally not. For example, she didn’t understand that the policy was no swimming at night,” Ashleigh said. “Brandon wanted to be defiant and swim, not Krissy. I’m more of a rebel than she is, but I don’t know how to swim. Also, she did not want and did not expect the camera to film her skinny dipping! This is Bravo, not HBO! Honestly, Krissy was on vacation and we had a great time despite the arguments.”
Ashleigh also talked about the fight that broke out right at the start of the charter. “Carmen made a shady comment to us. Carmen and Krissy had never met before until Australia. These were all MY friends. Then, Krissy could see the inauthenticity of the friendship between Carmen and I. Brandon began yelling to instigate. The editing made it seem like the argument came out of no where…Â So editing gets tricky as you can see. The argument fueled from shady and offensive comments that were said off-camera.”
“One of my guest mates made a comment to Ashleigh and I which caught me completely off guard, considering I didn’t know this cast mate well at the time. If the comment had come from a friend, I might have reacted differently. I am still on my spiritual journey ‘with extra alcohol,’ just kidding. It involves lots of fruits, vegetables, green tea and water! So it’s all love! Life is not always Camp Kumbaya,” resort owner and entrepreneur Kristyl told Show Star News.
“After I realized that the captain was serious about us jumping in the water, I apologized to the crew and went to bed. When there is booze on a 160-foot yacht with friends on vacation, you don’t know what will happen,” Kristyl added.
BDDU Season 2 Charter Guests Ashleigh And Kristyl Thought Chef Tzarina’s Cooking Bland But Loved Trip
“I was chosen for this experience, and it was entertaining. However my true essence was not captured. One thing that caught me off guard was the way they decided to show my back and front side on camera during the skinny-dipping moment with a cast mate. I didn’t expect to be filmed at that time of the morning until the captain appeared. The comments I made about ‘On my vacation, I am the captain on the ship’ were pure fun and taken out of context,” Kristyl said about the swimming incident.
Kristyl also enjoyed her time in Australia, despite the food prepared by Chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph not wowing her.
“The crew was funny and fun! They had to deal with a lot of demands from all of us, especially my bestie Ashleigh but it is their job. The food from what I remember is the only thing that wasn’t the best. I am used to more herbs, spice, and everything nice in my food! Plus, I eat a more plant-based diet (occasionally fish) but it was super hard for them to accommodate my needs,” Kristyl explained.
Ashleigh seconded the food being bland on their BDDU season 2 charter. “The food on the yacht needed seasoning, but it was attractive and well presented.”
Ashleigh Says Aesha Was ‘High Maintenance’ & Captain Jason Is ‘Gorgeous’
“Australia was amazing! I totally enjoyed holding a koala bear, but that could not be filmed,” Ashleigh said about spending her vacation on the other side of the world.
“Captain Jason is gorgeous and down to earth. We had several conversations privately on and off camera. He’s amazing,” Ashleigh said.
“The crew was amazing. Laura was a super pleasant and patient with my demands. The guys were super cool. Thinking back Aesha was cool, but was really high maintenance,” she wrote about the crew.
“Yes, Aesha was serving but she was maybe too busy as the lead and kept repeating my request over and over again like she didn’t hear me. Laura mainly served us,” Ashleigh added when asked what she meant by high maintenance.
She also wasn’t too pleased with another charter guest apparently being stingy about the tip money.
“There was one person being cheap and the person is not one of my friends. I’ll just say that.”
On the feedback from the fanbase, she said, “Seriously, the fans loved us as charter 1. They loved watching Krissy have a good time, they loved my fashionable looks, they loved watching Brad and Stacey be a couple. We didn’t get to see much of Rhoda. They loved watching Brandon for sure. They loved us.”
