The Trust A Game Of Greed‘s Tolu Ekundare is a polarizing figure for the for viewers of the Netflix’s latest reality TV psychological competition show. The Black beauty was very open about her past struggles emigrating to America while on the show, but she appears to be thriving now. In the first four episodes she fought with co-star Jake Chocholous, wanted to backstab millionaire Bryce Lee, and formed an alliance with most of the other women on the show’s cast. So, who’s fierce competitor Tolu from The Trust?
On the show, Tolu opened up about being bullied at school when she moved to America from Africa. It looks like Tolu has dealt with her past trauma, though, and is now proud of her heritage and appearance.
“Is this a safe space? Can I be transparent? I often reflect back on the times when I use to pray for lighter skin, looser curls, smaller lips and ‘prettier’ eyes, I use to wonder why God (if he loved me so much) would made me so ‘ugly’. I wish I could go back to brown skinned baby Tolu? and let her know that she hasn’t even begun to touch the depths of her beauty, I wish I could go back and let her know that all the parts of her that society had conditioned her to hate are exactly what sets her above the fray,” Tolu wrote on social media.
Before starring on The Trust, Tolu got her first break acting in the popular music video “We Not Humping” starring Houston rapper Monaleo. In the music video Tolu plays a prominent role as the girlfriend of a guy who ditches her to party with the new neighbor (Monaleo). Tolu also lives in Houston. Tolu’s acting work further suggests The Trust may be scripted.
