Below Deck: Meet The 3 Crew Members Hidden From Season 9 Cameras

Below Deck Season 9 My Seanna Crew Members Not On Show
From left to right, Below Deck My Seanna crew members: 2nd Engineer Gal, Chief Engineer Alex Forget and Chief Officer Jon Armstrong (Screengrab, Bravo).

The Below Deck season 9 cast members you see on the show aren’t all the crew members, there are 3 not in front of the cameras.

Below Deck often has some crew members you don’t see on the show but are working on the yacht. For instance, Malia White is dating engineer Jake Baker, who she met on Below Deck Mediterranean season 6.

The 9 cast members you do see on screen in season 9 include: Captain Lee Rosbach, Chef Rachel Hargrove, First Officer Eddie Lucas, Chief Stew Heather Chase, Seond Stew Fraser Olender, Third Stew Jessica Albert, Lead Deckhand Jake Fougler, Deckhand Rayna Lindsey, and Deckhand Wesley O’Dell.

But here are the other 3 My Seanna crew members you don’t see in the show’s spotlight.

My Seanna Chief Officer Jon Armstrong

Chief Officer Jon Armstrong and the other two crew members not on camera were briefly introduced at the start of the first episode by the interim Captain Sean Meagher. But after that, Captain Lee interviewed Jon for a Bravo insider exclusive.

“I was brought in as basically representation for the ownership. Somebody who is a little more familiar with the boat than the crew that comes on here last minute for all these charters,” expalined Jon to Captain Lee about what his role is on the yacht.

“In a nutshell, I’m a safety officer slash general oversight guy.”

Early on in season 9 of Below Deck, Jon helps retrieve chair cushions that flew overboard from the high winds blowing throughout the season.

“Eddie, Jon. Something just went over on the back quarter,” Jon informs Eddie over radio. Eddie then has Jon, who’s on the tender, go and retrieve the cushions for the deck crew.

“There’s a lot more bodies on this boat than there normally would be for [regular] charters, obviously, because we’ve got all the production people here as well,” Jon further explained. Due to all the extra bodies on the boat Jon basically acts like a shadow captain, although he doesn’t end up doing much after the first week once the new crew gets a hang of things.

“Most of it you do, I get pretty bored after the first week,” said Jon to Captain Lee in the interview.

My Seanna Engineers Alex Forget & Gal

Chief Engineer Alex Forget and Second Engineer Gal are also part of the season 9 crew that are not in front of the cameras.

Yachting engineers main jobs are to maintain the electrical and mechanical systems working on the boat. According to yachting website Cotton Crews, jobs can range from major jobs like fixing the engines, to smaller tasks like making sure the speakers are working in the media room. The yachting website also explains that second engineers can make a salary of between $5,000 to $8,000 per month in salary, and chief engineers can make $8,500 to $13,000 per month, however on charter yachts like the My Seanna they make about $2,000 less.

Do Below Deck Engineers & Chief Officers Get Charter Tip Money?

Yes, so even though engineers make less in salary on charter yachts, the tips definitely make up for it. Captain Lee shares tips equally with crew members, and Alex, Jon and Gal split the $25,000 charter guest tip in season 9 with the rest of the crew.

Will the 3 hidden My Seanna crew members make any more appearances on Below Deck season 9? Watch on Mondays at 9 p.m. EST to find out.
