Love Is Blind: AD's New England Patriots Cheerleading Job Explained

Love Is Blind season 6 star AD (Amber Desiree Smith) impressed her fiancé Clay Gravesande because of her past job cheerleading for the New England Patriots. She even worked as a professional dancer for the NFL dynasty team two Super Bowl years. However, despite some of the Love Is Blind season 6 cast inappropriately sexualizing AD, she’s a lot more than just a stunning beauty. She now works as a highly successful real estate agent in North Carolina, but before she was a successful cheerleader. Let’s take a close look at AD’s New England Patriots cheerleading job back in the day.

“You just decided to stay when you danced for the Patriots,” Clay said during a romantic lunch while on their getaway in the Dominican Republic. “You were there when they was winning.”

“Two Super Bowls,” AD said.

AD first started cheerleading for the New England Patriots back in 2011. She was just 20 years-old when she first auditioned and got the job.

“Being that it was my third year auditioning for the squad I went into this audition with way more confidence and knowledge of what to expect,” Smith told Wicked Local back in 2013. “I knew what the judges were looking for and I went into this year’s audition as a third year veteran who was ready to claim her spot on the team.”

“I had been cheering in the fifth grade and a dancer ever since I learned how to walk. It seemed only right to take my dance and cheer experience to the next level by becoming a New England Patriots Cheerleader,” She also told the local news outlet.

AD would cheerlead with them during the New England Patriots loss in the 2012 Super Bowl to the New York Giants. But she also cheered for the team at the Super Bowl in 2015, when they won against the Seattle Seahawks, during Quarterback Tom Brady’s prime of his career. That was AD’s last year cheerleading for them. She moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2016 to works as a cheerleader for the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets. AD was a cheerleader for the team from 2017 until 2020. She sadly had to retire from dancing after that because of an ACL injury.

However, AD’s LinkedIn shows she successfully transitioned to selling houses and even became a real estate broker.

AD’s Instagram includes many highlights of her time cheerleading for both professional sports teams. It’s unclear if AD dated any athletes from the teams, but she did say she dated players before.

Her friends previously told AD to stop dating “athletes and ballers” she said in a confessional on the show.
