Alone Season 1: What Happened To Dustin Feher, Fifth Place Finisher?

Alone Season 1: What Happened To Dustin Feher, Fifth Place Finisher?

As we move down the rankings for season 1 of Alone, we get to the players who tapped out early. There was a huge gap in time on the show between fifth place Dustin Feher and 4th place Lucas Miller. Lucas lasted 39 days compared to Dustin’s 8. You can hear Dustin’s justification for tapping out here. Sitting in his tent for eight hours unable to get a fire going and the first of many brutal storms on the way did him in. Maybe this was inevitable since Dustin described himself as “not a bushcraft expert”. In his drop day video he says, “I don’t know what’s going to happen after 30 days, or 21 days.”

While Dustin put his game face on, Alone quickly weeds out anyone who isn’t an elite survivor. To his credit, he admitted before he left that he was “there for the wrong reasons.” You can see that the rest of the group understood his decision as they sat around the fire. Dustin also exceeded his own expectations, and at the end of the day he was competing to test himself. But what happened to Dustin Feher after his time in the Vancouver Island wilderness came to an end on Alone season 1?

Not that this should count against him, but Dustin hails from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh has the largest population of any cast member’s hometown. He’s also in the upper tier when it comes to age, as he was 37 when the show started (and is 46 or 47 now). His profile on the show’s Fandom Wiki says that he had a wife and two dogs at the time of shooting. Dustin hasn’t updated his Instagram profile since 2021, but he was posting V-day pics with his wife as of Feb 14 of that year. In 2015, they celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary, which means they have been married for over 20 years now. However, there are no children to be seen on his feed.

With only 595 followers, Dustin isn’t making major waves on social media. But, his profile shows his interest in carpentry and fishing. One of his two pups, Jupiter, was and still is the subject of a pet walk for animal rescues. The next walk takes place on April 28, 2024 at Boyce Park in Pittsburgh, and another post reveals the charity is in his wife’s name. Dustin has travelled around the US a bit, going on expeditions in Montana and Alaska. Other photos show him in Vegas, Austin Texas, and fishing in Virginia. Dustin is very knowledgeable about knives and blades and most of his pictures show parts of his collection.
