Why Below Deck Med Season 8 Isn’t On Tonight On Bravo

Why Below Deck Med Season 8 Isn't On Tonight On Bravo

Below Deck Mediterranean season 8‘s episode 13 aired on December 18, and since then, Bravo decided to take a two-week hiatus before airing another of the last three episodes of the show. We last left off Captain Sandy Yawn’s superyacht Mustique crew hosting picky returning Primary Charter Guest Billy Rodriguez, his partner Chris Robin and friends. But fans are wanting to know why Below Deck Med season 8 isn’t on tonight on Bravo.

Although the last episode showed deckhand Max Salvador getting in trouble for fibbing to Captain Sandy about lacking any crew food. The hangry situation of Max refusing to apologize to Captain Sandy gets resolved at the start of episode 14. Bravo released a preview of the first  seven minutes of Below Deck Med season 8’s episode 14 two weeks ago.

Captain Sandy also stuck her nose into Bosun Luka Brunton’s romantic life asking him about who he was texting. It turns out he was reconnecting with Below Deck Med season 6’s Chief Stewardess Katie Flood. It looks like Luka’s previous relationship with Katie — and his reconnecting with Natalya Scudder later this season — sinks the boatmance between Luka and stewardess Jessika Asai.

Meanwhile, Max continues to complain and not pull his weight on the shorthand deck crew due to Haleigh Gorman being sick and off the boat. Things only appear to further unravel for Captain Sandy’s team. She also has to kick off Lead Deckhand Lara Du Preez after she also gets sick.

Why Below Deck Med Season 8 Isn’t On Tonight & Will It Have A Reunion?

Well, the obvious reason for the two-week hiatus is many people in America and elsewhere around the world were busy celebrating Christmas and the New Year’s over the past two weeks. With Christmas and New Year’s Day both falling on Mondays, the day of the week Bravo typically airs new episodes, it didn’t make sense for the network to air new episodes because most viewers would be too busy celebrating/recovering from hangovers to bother tuning in.

So, Bravo decided to withhold the next new episode until Monday, January 8, at 8 p.m. EST. Episodes 15 and 16 will follow on Jan. 15 and 22 respectively.

Since Below Deck season 11 premiers on Feb. 5, at 9 p.m. EST, it looks like Bravo is going to host a Below Deck Med season 8 reunion. Below Deck Down Under season 2 didn’t have a reunion, nor did Below Deck season 10. However, Below Deck Med season 7 and Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 both had two-part reunion episodes. Unless Bravo is planning to change the airing time to 9 p.m. from its regular 8 p.m. slot, it looks like there could be a Below Deck Med season 8 two-part reunion airing at 8 p.m. EST on Monday Jan. 29 and Feb. 5.

Although viewers are disappointed they have to wait another week for an episode, they have plenty of new Below Deck seasons releasing on Bravo to look forward to in 2024.
